Many commercial buildings are constructed with materials that contain asbestos. Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are considered potentially hazardous when in a damaged or friable condition (easily crumbled and rendered airborne). Federal regulations (USEPA and OSHA) require that certain friable ACMs in commercial structures be properly removed or contained prior to renovation or demolition activities that may disturb the ACMs. Therefore, significant amounts of ACMs are a potential financial liability to property owners and lenders regarding ACM removal/abatement costs. Asbestos control must be conducted by certified and trained personnel. EA personnel are properly trained to provide all aspects of asbestos control including baseline surveys, assessments, operations and maintenance, management planning and abatement.
